| Haven't blogged in awhile. Again. This is the third post in a row I've started off my blog as such. Hooray for consistency! =)
Testing this out, since I just synced Xanga to Facebook during one of my procrastination breaks from studying for my History midterm. Supposedly if I update here, it'll update on my notes in Facebook, yay!
I owe my thanks to Christi, since her post of 25 Random Things... alerted me to the fact that I could do this. I'll have to sit down and compile my 25 Random Things to post in response. I know for a fact that "I've had a cockroach in my ear and had to go to the ER to remove it." will definitely make the list. Maybe number 1!
Oh, yes, this is still one of my procrastination breaks, but I'm almost done studying and will be as ready as ever for my online midterm tomorrow morning. The time slot actually spans from 6am Saturday to 4pm Sunday, but since I'll be on the Princess Cruiseliner heading for the Mexican Riviera tomorrow afternoon... well, I don't feel like paying 35 cents a minute for a spotty connection while taking the test.
Taking 6 classes again this quarter, another 20 units. I took 19 units last quarter which were 2 sciences, an art history class, and a communications class vs. the four art classes plus a history class and a social sciences class and I feel so much more swamped this quarter than last. Maybe it's because the weather's nicer and I've been out mountain biking as much as I can, or the art classes really just take so much more time than the science classes. That and it's actually 2 more full classes, even though it's only 1 unit more. Ugh.
I'm learning that I can't make every project worthy of my portfolio and I just need to pick and choose which ones I want to focus all my energy in. So far that's fallen on my 3-D design projects. I must say, I love that class. LOVE it. Working in the Z dimension is just so wonderfully satisfying, I can't begin to describe. I'll post pics of the projects as I finish them, so far we've done a bas relief design of our name, and a 3-dimensional interpretation of a Picasso painting.
*sigh* back to reading. Hopefully to bed in an hour. Cheers all.

| Haven't blogged in awhile, and after writing a 9-page paper last night on chimpanzees and Francois Langurs, and having to write another 5-7 page paper tonight about more chimpanzees, I still don't feel like blogging much. =)
However, I took a short break to do some instant messaging and this is what my brain has turned into.

| Haven't blogged in a few weeks, been kinda busy with summer session and full weekends. Dardy called me on it though, so I wanted to get an update in =)
Char and I got our iPhones finally! We both picked up 16gb white 3G's and dear lord, they are friggin' sweet. I already crammed it 2/3's full with all my music and 4 ripped movies from my dvd collection. "Handbrake" for the Mac is awesome at it, you just pop in the dvd, choose the ipod/iphone preset and let it go. It'll convert your dvd to mp4 format in the iPhone's native resolution (to preserve space) in about 30 mins. Then you just open it up in iTunes and sync it up to your ipod/iphone. Whalah! So I have "300", "Nightmare Before Christmas", "Gladiator", and "Empire Records" on the phone right now. I also downloaded Joss Whedon's "Dr. Horrible" and put it on there as well.
And that's just the iPod side of the iPhone. =) The 3G internet is fast. Really fast. Typing is pretty easy, though I never really used a blackberry or anything with a physical QWERTY keyboard to compare it to and when I measure it against my rudimentary texting on my old phone, this is way faster. Having AIM wherever I go is crazy cool. Being able to check my email as soon as it arrives in my inbox. Crazy cool. The App store? Priceless! Cheryl recommended I download an application called Pandora (which is free) which basically tailors the music it streams to you by your input. You give each song it plays a thumbs up or down, and it learns as it receives your feedback. It also displays the artist/title, and if you click on it, gives you a link straight to the iTunes store if you want to purchase it. I also picked up a mount for my car and have it feed into my auxiliary in and when I'm running Pandora, it's like having satellite radio in my car. I absolutely love it. Char loves hers too but almost solely for its email/internet browsing capability. Interactive voicemail too is a definite plus.
We just arrived back from Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe today. We were there from Friday early afternoon to this morning. I haven't been to Tahoe very much during the non-winter months, but it is absolutely gorgeous out there. Greg throws this trip every year, for the past four years and this was our first year with them. It's tradition! =) We had 14 peeps who went, two campsites. Friday night we had steak/chicken fajitas and sat by the campfire enjoying the night air. Saturday we broke into three groups, one group went on a hike that Nelson planned and took the dogs, one group went fishing, and one group went mountain biking. I lead the group on mountain biking trail that I found in a book I picked up at Border's. It was REALLY hard. The author had rated another trail that I've been to twice (Saratoga Gap) as harder than the Tahoe trail (Kingsbury Grade to Bench Overlook) and since the Gap wasn't too difficult, I thought this would be a good match, especially with the difficulty of the high altitude thrown in. So not true. There were some really technical sections and granite boulders/rocks throughout. It wouldn't have been nearly as bad if there was a nice smooth fire road for the climb in, but we had to climb the same singletrack in as the one we took out, which included granite steps, ramps, and sheer drops off the edge which could be a little unnerving.
That night we had tri-tip and salmon, and buried some foil wrapped potatoes in the fire which I left in too long and burned. =) The dogs were crazy tired and so were the campers! We got up early and packed it up on Sunday and Char and I raced back to the Bay Area so I could make the open lab for my photography class because I wanted to work on a project due tomorrow
Anyways, here's some pics of the fun.

| A friend asked me to graffiti her volleyball with Calvin and Hobbes images, since the duo are one of her favorite comic strips. It's coming along fairly well, I've learned that water based inks do NOT work well on the leather of the ball and picked up a set of colored Sharpies which do the trick quite nicely.
Anyways, since Bill Watterson didn't syndicate his artwork on mugs and calendars and other merchandise, which I respect wholeheartedly, I like to think of this as an homage to his wonderful creation that touched so many people, myself included. (My attempt at justifying my blatant infringement and appeasing the comic gods so they don't strike me down where I stand . That and I have every single one of his books, plus the collector's edition, so I feel I've paid my dues.)
The first two panels, four more to go.
